PUHIPUHI SILVER FIELD.
TAMATAUHINAU SYNDICATE. We understand, says the Northern “Advocate,” that a local syndicate has purchased from Mr J'phn Conyngham the Tamatauhinau block, which adjoins Puhipuhi at a point where the rich silver lodes of the Prospectors’ Claim must strike through it. The block is close to the now celebrated No. 1, and consists of 1,200 acres of freehold land, and being the only freehold—and consequently the only land not controlled by. the Government or natives—in the whole silver district, is of very great value, as the proprietors are free to deal with it in any way they please at once, instead of being hampered, as is the case in the Puhipuhi, with Government restrictions, conditions, and obstructions. The block stretches right along the northern boundary of Puhipuhi, and all the reefs yet discovered in the forest trend in the direction of Tamatauhmau. The block is also well situated in regard to a town site, whether the road bo made by way of the Waiotu or over the main range by Erua’s, having fairly level ground at either end. An eminent engineer, who visited the block on behalf of the syndicate, gob the bearings of the various Puhipuhi reefs, and found they all trended towards Tamatauhinu. We hear that arrangements have been made for floating a company in Melbourne to operate this valuable property. v
