THAMES DEEP LEVEL.

PROPOSED USE OF THE DIAMOND DRILL. It is pleasing to note that the persistent advocacy of the necessity for prospecting and developing the great mineral wealth that abounds in the hills of the Coromandel Peninsula is about to. bear fruit. At the last meeting of the Thames Drainage Board Mr A. Brodie brought forward a series of resolutions, which were seconded by Mr James E rater and unanimously adopted. These resolutions affirmed the desirability of testing the. lower levels of the Thames goldfields with a diamond drill. The matter has been frequently brought before the Board by both Messrs J. M. Lennox and W. S. Wilson, but was never taken up until this meeting, when a feasable determination was arrived at. Since then Mr D- G. Mac Donnell, Secretary of the Drainage Board, has been advancing affairs by procuring from various sources the fullest ■ information respecting the cost and working of a diamond drill which is now under offer from the Inangahua County Council. After all the requisite information has been obtained it is intended to submit the project to the notice of those interested in mining, and probably the members of the Chamber of Commerce, 1 • '<'• 1 " •
