Rev Mr Wills as Wesleyan minister, was stationed at Te Aruba for some two or three years, during which time he made many friends who will be very pleased to see him again. Since lie went to Opotiki to reside he lias been a most active and determined worker in tho temperance cause, and as might be expected, has consequently had to suffer the ill will and hatred of those who from sordid motives arc opposed to this good work. Tho warfare became so hot at length that his enemies made an attempt to burn him in effigy, which attempt roused the whole township, and the people of every denomination turned out in great numbers acd not only promptly put a stop to the procession, tore the effigy to pieces, but inarched through the town in procession cheering Rev Mr Wills, who is exceedingly popular with a large majority of the residents. Although very few at Te Aroha are aware of the lively proceedings that have been going on at Opotiki, briefly referred to above, still many will be glad to again meet Mr Wills, and to hear his address which is sure to prove very interesting ; and we hope to see a good house.
