(a)This is a risky move. Mr Wyllie played it against Mr C. F. Barker in a match for the championship of the world and lost. Analysis has, however, since proved it to be a draw.

DRAUGHT ITEMS. The leading draught players of the city are trying to arrange a tourney for the Championship of Auckland. For this purpose a meeting of players is to be held on the 15th instant, at the Free Library, when it is anticipated that something definite will be decided upon. THE EXHIBITION TOURNAMENT. The resultsof the recent draughts tournament at the New Zealand Exhibition in Dunedin were as follows : —Warnock, £25 and champion ; Boreham, £ls, 2 ; Brodie, £lO, 3; Hutton, £7 10s, 4 ; Reid, £7, 5. The first three prize-takers were born in Otago, Warnock being an old Dunedin man.
