MINING NEWS.
Thames, February 10. Trenton.— The following tenders were received on Saturday afternoon for erecting hoppers and a double shoot at the Company’s mine:—J. Inglis, £96 ; J. Brett, £9B 10s ;A. Neave, £lO5. The tenders have been forwarded to the directors in Auckland. New Moanatairi. —Operations on the Reuben Parr reef underneath where the tributers recently obtained rich gold have so far resulted somewhat disappointingly. The reef has been broken down in both the eastern and western drives from the bottom of the winze, and although the lode is 18 inches in thickness, and composed of auartz of the most favourable description, no gold was observed. The main tunnel has been extended a further distance of 17 feet during the past week. There is no change worthy of mention from the Cambria end, except that the drive is now in about 14 feet from the Cambria boundary. Lone Hand. —Capital progress is being made with the extension of the low level tunnel, which is still penetrating aii excellent class of sandstone country, and it is now within about 50 or 60 feet of the Manchester boundary. It is probable, therefore, that a start will be made at an early date to sink a winze on the Adelaide reef to meet this drive, which will ensure good ventilation. Quartz of the usual remunerative grade continues to come to hand from the upper workings. May Queen.—Work is. proceeding as usual, but there is no change to report. Trenton. —The mine manager wired today : “ Holed through to Saxon upper level.”
