Onions have been quitted in good quantities, at from :|d to Id ; potato onions are hard to quit at Ad. Wheat: Coining torward freely. at from 3s to 3s 3d. Maize. Fair demand, at 3s. Vegetables of all kinds scarcer at fair prices: Peas, 6d toBAd; first-class garlic is in fair demand for shipping orders. Bacon ana hams of ilrst-class quality is remarkably scarce, and in good demand at 6d to 7d for bacon, and 8d far hams. Cheese lias moved oil' more freely; Farmers’, 3d to 3',‘d.: factory, prime, 4}d to 4id; loave3, bj : d. Eggs have been scarcer; Good fresh lots, Is to Is Id; doubtful lots. 6d to 9d, Fresh Butter: Most ot that to hand was in poor condition; prices ruled from 4id to 7d. Honey: Supplies all cleared at from 2d to 4d. For keg butter there is no demand at present. In the fruit department there has been a large supply: Cooking apples have ruled slightly lower, but dessert kinds have sold high. Plums and pears were also short, at higher rates. Ad. In the poultry department all pens were filled. Poor and old fowls, Is to Is 3d ; good ordinary, Is 5d to Is 8d: roosters, young in condition. Is 7d to Is lid ; small and old, Is 2d to Is 4d ; clucks, 10d to Is; ducks. Is Id to Is lid and 2s Id : geese. 4s each ; turkey cocks, 6s 6d ; canaries. 2s to 8s ; pigeons, 8d to Is. Pigs were entered in good numbers. Vcry choice breeds, 10s 6d to 14s 6d; fair lots, 7s to 8s 9d ; otilers, 5s to Os. _ Messrs Alfred Buckland and Son s Weekly Report.— At the Hay - arket during the past week oaten sheaves have been in'full supply, and have brought from Is 9d to 2s the cwt; meadow bay in small loads lias been better worth. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday, heavy hides in condition brought from 4Ad to 5-}d, but medium and light weights were under 3d ; cow hides, lAdto 2Ad; calfskins, 3Ad to 4Jd the lb ; tallow, 17s and 18s 6d the cwt; sheepskins, and nelts. from Is to ss; lambs’tins, Is 7d to 3s 2d each. Several bales and parcels of wool ranged from 61d to 9 d the lb. At Waiuku. on Saturday, a smaller than usual muster of cattle sold but moderately well, but many sheep were yarded and sold satisfactorily; ewes, from 6s 6d to 9s; rams, from 15s to 60s : lambs, 7s 6d each. At the sheep fair, on Tuesday, ewes were yarded in numbers fully equal to the advertisements, but weri mostly aged culled sheep. Of the 9,000 sold not more than 1,500 were young sheep. Prices were good throughout. Voung ewes, from two to six tooth, brought from 9s to 10s 6deach; culled longwoolled ewes, 5s to 8s; half-bred ewes, 3s 6d to 6s; merino ewes, 2s to 5s 6d each : longwcolled wethers, 9s to 12s 6d each, and with the exception of less than 200 ail yarded were sold. The rams yarded were almost confined to Lincolns, and they were mostly of superior quality. The prices obtained by individual breeders can scarcely be looked on as indications of tlieir quality, for the buyers were mostly satisfied when about one half were sold, and prices fell in consequence of the numbers penned. Prices for good Lincolns ranged from £2 to £9. Leicesters were inquired for, but not exhibited. Romney Marsh did not sell, and Downs or black-faced sheep of all breeds were at lowvalues; two-tooths from one to two guineas each, and aged rams of all kinds worth a few shillings only. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cows were in limited number and rail-inquiry. Store cattle: More numerous that usual, at late values. Fat cattle plentiful. One draft of 40 oxen withheld from the auction. Prices equal to finish of last week's sale were at 14s for steers 10s for cows of prime quality. Fat sheep in full numbers, and kept last week’s valuer. Wethers, lijd to 2d ; ewes. lAd the lb. Lambs in short supply, were better worth, and brought from 7s to 10s 6d each. Porkers in demand at full values, and store pigs were also in request. Some averages were: 8 oxen, £6 14s; 67 oxen, .£6 9s; 20 steers, £6 2s; 8 steers, £5 2s 6d ; 13 steers, £5 : -18 steers, £5 7s 6d ; 1!) cows, £3 15s; 6 cows, £3 12s;-200 wethers, 12s: 250 mixed sexes, 9s 6d; 200 wethers, 10s 3d; 120 wethers, hoggets, 10s; 76 lambs, 9s; 16 iambs. 9s 6d; 30 lambs, 8s 9d Messrs Hunter and Nolan’s Weekly Report.— Horse feed, grain, seed, etc. Supplies have been ample, but very little business has been done. We quote: Oats. Is 9d to 2s 4d per bushel: maize, 2s 3d to 2s 9d ; bran, £3 10s per ton. Horses: Owing to the Jubilee holidays no auction sales were held, but a few changed hands privately at quite the previous week s values, and a few good backs_ fully realised vendors’ expectations. W 001, hides, and skins : Moderate quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, and competition was steady. We quote: Ox hides, 2d to 31d per lb; cow lid to 2d ; calfskins, 2:Jd to 4d per lb. Cattle: The market has revived much after the holidays, and a demand ha 3 existed for all descriptions at prices slightly in favour of the seller. There w-as an average muster at Newmarket on Tuesday, and rather more than that on Wednesday. Competition whs steady for all descriptions. Dairy and store stock were unaltered in value, and there was an advance on the previous week’s rate for fat stock, some averages of which were :—Steers, £6 4s. 4 6. £5 15s. £5 12s 6d, £5 2s 6d, £4 4s 6d; cows. £4 7s 6d, £4 5s £3 10s, £3 9s 6d, £2 17s fid. Sheep: The supply has been sufficient for requirement. A steady demand has existed, and the competition at Newmarket on Tuesday was good. Wethers sold at from 10s 9d to 13s 6d; ewes from 9s to 12s 6d; lambs, from 6s to 9s 9d each. Pigs: Very few yarded. Messrs G. W. Binney and Sons’ Report. On Tuesday hides sold freely at late quotations. a few picked prime ox selling at extreme rates, but thi* cannot be taken as a fair market Quotation. We quote: Stout ox, 3Jd to ; heavy, 3d ; medium, 2|d to 2Jd ; picked cow. 2d to 2Ad; good lines, lid to ljd; inferior. Id to lid; kips. lAd to 3d; calf. 3d to 4Ad per lb. Sheepskins’ Salted pelts in brisk demand; picked. Is lOd to 2s; ordinary. Is 6d to Is 9d ; small, 9d to Is. Lambs’: Large. 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; small, 9d to Is 3d. Dry pelts, 9d t o Is 9d each. Wool: Lambs', 7d to 7id; crossbred. 7d to 8d per lb. Tallow: Best, 18s 6d; medium, 16s; inferior, 10s to 12sper cwt. Bones: Firm at £4 10s to £4 lbs per ton; shanks, £5 per ton ; horns.
