Gisborne, January 22. At the second day’s racing of the G.R.C. the attendance was good. The weather was fine. The following were the results : County Stakes of 25sovs. One mile.— Privateer, 1; Mangaohane, 2 ; Criminal, 3. These were the only starters. Dividend, £3 11s. Stewards’ Handicap of 50sovs. One and a-half miles.—Orwell, 1 ; Misfortune, 2; Truthful, 3. Melville, Masthead, and Pouana also ran. Won by three lengths. Time, 2m 15|s. Dividend, £l3 17s. Hurdle Race of 60sovs. Two miles.— Waterfall, 10sb 31b, 1; Dove, lOst, 2; Nancy, 9st 71b, 3. Darnley, lOst 121 b, Moor,” 9st, also ran ; a good finish between Waterfall and Dove. Time, 4m. 6 2-sths. Dividend, £2 6s. The Hack Race was won by Claude ; Moonstone, 2; Saleboy, 3. Time, lm. 51-Jsß. Dividend, £2 ss. President’s Handicap of 150sovs. One and three-quarter miles.—Cynical, 6st 71b, 1 ; The Laird, 7ab 71b, 2 ; Burd Helen, 7st 101 b, 3. Pani, Bsfc 71b, Deceiver, 7st, and Fitz James, 7sb 61b, also ran. It was an exciting race, and was won by half-a-length. Time, 3m. Dividend, £3l Bs. The Hack Race was won by Privateer. Forced Handicap of 30sovs. —Fitz James, 1; New York, 2. Six others started.
