NEW CALEDONIA.
SUSPENSION OF THE COLONIAL SECRETARY. i Sydney, Jan. 27, Fautjer, the Colonial Secretary at Noumea, has been suspended, for refusing to assist the Governor in favour of the supporters of some leading mining companies. At the general elections a large majority of the population are declaring themselves in support of Fautier. The Governor has deported Berbe, a well-known magistrate of the Court of Appeal, for contributing to the press.
