The annual meeting in connection with the Anglican Church, Waiorongomai, was held in the Waiorongomai Public Hall on Thmsday evening last ; Rev F. Evans presiding. The Minister’s Warden, Mr W. F. Hunt, read the anuual report, showing a deficit of 30s on the quarter ; which, hearing in mind the number of wet Sundays during the past quarter, and the number of persons who have lately left the district, was considered very satisfactory, The necessary steps will be taken to wipe out this deficit, so as to start the New Year free of debt. Allen, of Annandale,' Piako, has recently been visiting the Hot Lakes district, Rotorua, accompanied by severa* members of bis family. Mr Allen invested in a large area of bush land situated between Rotorua and Oropi, about the same time a 3 he purchased his Annandale pro—property ; and when inspecting this property a few days since, some of his party got lo t in the hush, and much anxiety was felt for their safety. It appears that on Tuesday last one of Mr Allen’s son 3, a lad about fifteen years of age. accompanied by a young friend named Mr Hall (on a visit from England!, went into the hush at the rear of the Half-way House, and lost their way. As they did not put in an appearance next morning, great anxiety was felt for their’safety, and a messenger was sent into Tauranga for assistance. The ’"survey parties at Rotorua and Ve Puke were telegraphed for to go out to assist in the search. A volunteer pmty wan also organised, nnd were just on the point of departure when a messanger arrived with the welcome news that the missing ones had been found, same distance in the bush. This experience will no doubt convince them of the necessitv of becoming better acquainted with the land marks before venturing far in New Zealand bush unaccompanied by a guide.
