' The start was an excellent one, and when half .the distance had been travelled, The Gift, who held a splendid position against theVrails, and Sir William on the outside, shook off their horses, .and The Gift, showing' more; pace than the son of Sir Modred, won all out by aboub thiee lengths. The winner is owned by Mr H. Oxenhatn, and is a daughter of Somnus and Little Wanzer. She was bred by Mr W.' Dargin, of Windsor, who made her a present to Mi 1 rOxetiham. Her dam is by Malta from. Milliner, by Millionaire (imp.) ! from Caress, by Indian,. Warrior from ,Sweetheart (imp.),., by Red Hart, a pedigree than which there are few better in the. stud book. The six furlongs was traversed in l'min and among the, unplaced division was Au tfeus (9st 21b), Cinderella (9st), and Too. Soon (7st 81b). -
