Thames, January 15. Quarterly Gold Returns.—The following are the gold returns for the past quarter : Thames Borough, 6.1570zs 15dwts ; Thames County, 4,G160zs 124wts ; Coromandel Countv, 2 7060zs 12du-fs ; Ohinemuri County, 5130zs 19dwts : Piako County, 2760zs Bdwts, mating a grand total from the various districts of 13,7210zj 6d arts, as against 10,5320zs 4dwts for the September quarter. New Moanatairi —The work of extending the main tunnel by means of the rock drill has now been comme' ced. Trenton.—The low level drive has now been extended 20 feet beyond the hangingwall reef. A small leader about an inch in thickness was p issed through on Monday, and there wa* a little water coming from the face yesterday (Tuesday), which !ead-i the manager to believe that the f< otwall reef is close at hand. Driving westward has been started upon the hanging-wall reef. May Queen. —There is some good mineral showing through the No. 4 lode, and the count y is all that can be desired for gold. Cambria. The quartz in the various stopes still continues to show good colours and dabs of gold. Crawford’s G M.Co.—The crushing of from 60 to 65 loads of quartz frail this Company’s mine has been completed for the return of 23" z gold. New Prince Imperial.—A leader has been got in the crosscut at No 3 level, which is believed to be the one which is being sunk on. It has been cut about ten feet from the No 2 lead, and i;. is about one foot in thickness. A colour or two of gold have been seen in it. Saxon.—The No. 2 reef averages from 18 inches to 2 feet in thickness, and shows a little gold occasionally. The No. 1 main reef in the new winze is fully four feet in thickness, heavily mineralised and of a promising appearance, a.id gold is ocoa sionallv seen. The drive along the course of the new leader in the cross-cut. No. 4 level, has been extended 34 feet. The reef averages 12 to 18 inches in thickness, and shows gold occasionally. A few pounds of picked stone have been saved from here. The amalgam on hand is39lozs, and picked stone 20 bs. New Manuicau.—Anew leader shoeing co'ours and dabs of gold has been inter sected in the face of the intermediate drive above No 4 level. It is fully six inches j thick, and is accompanied by several small sbiingers of quartz, all of which are saved for crushing dirt. Another small leider has also been intersected near Mulligan’s leader. The western block, about to be opened up, is anticipated to prove the best the Company has yet worked.
