KUAOTUNU GOLDFIELDS.

RICH PROSPECTS. ANOTHER MINE FLOATED. The new goldfield at Kuaotunu is now causing excitement on the Exchange. When the "Try Fluke was pub on the market, it was stated that enough money could not be to erect a battery on the new field. This idea has, however, been entirely dissipated, for the shares in the Try Fluke were all taken as soon as the mine was pub in the market, and to-day they were sold at 4s 6d per share, with few sellers The Carbine, which adjoins the Fry Fluke has nob yet been placed on the market in the form of scrip, but syndicate shares are fetching high prices. This morning £l4O was asked on the Exchange for the quarter of a ninth share in this mine. The fact is that there are scarcely any sellers, as much as £IOO having been paid last week tor a quarter of a share. Rich gold is said to be showing in both the Try Fluke and Carbine mines. Good reports are also coming to hand from the Otama claim. The Kapai, which also adjoins the Try Fluke on one side, is now in a good sandstone country, and a leader has been cut showing traces of gold. Tnis is on a line leading towards the direction in which the Try Fluke leader is supposed by the surveyor to run. A new claim which has been named Hidden Treasure has also been formed. This is peg and peg at one point with the Try Fluke and adjoins the Kapai on one side. The prospectors having made good their title, decided to take-in a few others in order to get funds. The matter was placed in the hands of Mr H. Shepherd. It was decided to form a syndicate of 60 shares. Of this number 30 were offered for sale and in a few hours the whole of them were taken up. The next day a premium was offered for a share in this claim, and to-day a gentleman who has just returned from Kuoatunu paid £5 premium for one share. Mr J. Gopdall, C.E., has been intrusted with the erection of a battery for the Try Fluke Company, and left‘yesterday for the Thames in'order to inspect some machinery which is now under offer. ">
