CUSTOMS REVENUE.
Wellington, January 2. The Customs returns for the colony for last month were :—Auckland, £22,598 5s sd; Wellington, £24,281 14s lOd; Christchurch, £21,200 9s 4d; Dunedin, £30,354 16s Id. Total, £120,859 3s lid. The figures for November, 1889, are : Auckland, £26,733 6a 3d ; Wellington, £22,556 9s 4d ; Christchurch, £19,124 4s Id; Dunedin, £32,164 13s 9d. Total, £122,081 19s Id. For December, 1888, the returns amounted to £108,164 3s lid. The beer duty collected last month was : —Auckland, £1,349 14s ; Wellington, £719 9d; Christchurch, £1,123 9s lOd; Dunedin, £1,538 6s lid : Total, £6,371 7s lid. The total for previous month was £5,055 ss, and for December, 1888, £5,545 18s 2d. For the nine months ot the financial year the total Custom’s revenue is £1,100,534 4s 2d, which leaves a deficiency according to the Colonial Treasurer’s estimate of about £62,000.
