Wyllie v. GaFvF.y. Game played at the Melbourne Draughts Club on November 9bh, 1889, between Messrs Wyllie and Garey. “Fife” —Wyllie’s move.
DRAUGHTS ITEMS. Duravardv. Perie. —The match between Messrs Gordon Durward and B. Perie at Aberdeen has ended in a victory for Mr Durward. Score: Durward, 11 wins; Perie, 6 wins ; drawn, 13.—Glasgow “Herald.” It is stated in the “Bristol Mercury ” of the 25th ulto. that Mr J. Wyllie has oilered liberal expenses to induce either Mr J. R. Reed or M r C. F. Barker bo play a draughts match in Australasia. Attention has been recently called to the fact that Mr C. F. Barker waived the right, which he undoubtedly possessed, of insisting on having the Reed-Barker match played at Boston ; it has been suggested that Mr Reed might now gracefully return the compliment by trying to have arrangements made for an encounter between himself and Mr Barker in some town other than Chicago. It remains to be seen, however, whether Mr Reed will or will not endeavour to act on this suggestion.—“ Australasian.”
