Morrinsville.
[From Our Own Correspondent.] Morrinsville, Monday. School Committee : A meeting of the Morrinsville School Committee was held on Thursday last. Present : Messrs Buttle (Chairman), Clifford, Harrison, Horrell, Rowe, and Turnbull. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. School Children’s Annual Treat : A letter was read from W. S Allen, Esq., inviting the scholars, members of Committee, parents, fiiends, etc., of the Morrinsville school to Annandale, for the annual school treat, and stating that he would provide all refreshments, etc,, for tha occasion. It was unanimously resolved to accept Mr Allen’s very kind invitation with thanks, and that the treat be held on Wednesday the Bth January. School Cleaning: Two applications were received for this work, one at £6 per annum, the other at £5. It was resolved to accept the latter. Teacher left the District : Application for a Female Teacher: It was resolved to inform the Board of Education, that Mr Lamont, the school teacher, had left the district, taking all his furniture and effects with him. Also, that although he had not communicated officially with the Committee on the subject, still he had given them to understand he did not intend to return to the district; and asking if Mr Lamont had sent in his resignation to the' Eoard, and in the event of his haviug done so, requesting the Eoard to appoint a lady teacher.
Teacher’s House : A letter was received from the Board of Education, stating the teacher’s house required repairing aqd painting. After inspecting the buildings, the Committee were of opinion t’qat some work certainly required to be dqne, bnt they had fio funds for the purpose available. It was decided to inform the Board the Committee was
willing to have the work carried out, provided the Board would grant the necessary funds. Board of Education :—A letter was read from the Board, informing the Committee *hat Messrs Cooper, Moat, and Ddy, were the outgoing members of the Board this year, etc. Several small accounts were passed for payment. This was all the business.
