PUHIPUHI SILVER FIND. REPORT OF THE INSPECTOR. (BY TELEGRAPH -PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AT Wellington, this day.
The Mines Department < have receired the following telegram fronilnspector of Mines at Auckland, who was senfc to Puhipuhi to report on the silver find: — "I have, visited the place where the discovery of gold and silver has been made in the prospectors' ground, and brought back assays from the different reefs. Assays have been completed by Mr Rhodes from nine of the reefs. Though nearly all ' carry traces of gold and a ' little silver, they are practically' worthless. The 10th, named by the proprietors 'Silver Reef,' . may. war*' rant further prospecting. It averages ldwb 17grains - of gold and • 12oz 13dwt silver to : the ton, t making a total value of £2 sterling per ton; I have no authentic information of any other discovery in the-district about which reports appeared' in 1 the newspapers. > • ;
