Wan, white, woe-begone was Walter, wayward, wilful, worn with weakness, waited, waxing weaker, whenever winter's wild, with6>ing winds were wailing. W holly, wi houb waywardness was Winifred, Walter's wise, womanly watcher, who, with winsome, wooing way, was well- beloved. 'Wo won't wail, Walter; while weatbor's wurtn, we'll wander where woodlands wave, won't we ?' Walter's wonted wretchedness whol y waned. * Why, Winnie, we'll walk where we went when we were with Willie : we'll woave wildflower wreaths, watch woodmen working, woodlice, worms wriggluisr, windmills whirling, watermills wheeling : we will win wild whortleberries, witness wheat winnowed.'. Wisbeach woods w,ore wild with wildflowers ; warm westerly winds whispered where willow* were waving ; wood- pigeons, wrens, woodpeckers wore warbling wild vvoodnote?. Where Wisbeach watermiil's waters, which were wholly waveles-s widened, were water-lilies, waxen white. Winifred wove wreaths with woodbine, whitehorn, wallflowers, whilst.- Walter whittled wooden wedges with willow wands. Winnie, who, worn with watching, well j nigh weeping, was wistluily, wakefully, waiting Willies well-known whistlo, wholly wished Walter's well-being warranted. With well-timed wisdom, Walter was wound with wide, white worsted wrappers, which wonderfully well withstood win tor's withering, whistling winds. Wholly without warm wruppeis was Winifred, whn, with womanly wisdom, w s watching Walter's welfare, warding Walter's weakness. • When will Willie wend where we wait? wearily wondeied Walter. • Whist, Walter,' whispered Winnie ; ' who was whooping. •Whereabouts?'
