CHRISTMAS IN NEW ZEALAND.

Prolific summer's glowing sway Has kissed tho. fertile wold ; And neath t^e sunbeam's golden ray, Proud Nature's charms unfold, The songbirds' thrilling strains of glee Proclaim with joyous pride. In flood 1 ' of matchless melody. New Zealand's Christmastide. Rare floral gems their hues expand In bright resplendent bloom. And fill with loveliness the land, The air with sweet perfume. Those fleecy clouds o'erhead that float. These glassy streams that glide, In perfect harmony denote New Zealand's Christmastide, "Pis now those rrnergy cliffs- we climb, Aflmnc with brilliant glow. Where emblems of the festive time In crimson clusters grow. Or roam where ferns their shadows fling, And floral wonders hide, Where m*er-y loaf seems whispering New Zealand's Christmastide. Fair land, where Freedom's flog unfurlod Floats proudly overall. Thy voice throughout the seething world Invites with trumpet eill ; 'Mid London's smoke it echoes there, In triumph pealing wide. And bids her weary ones to share Now Zealand's ChristmaJjMde. How swcclly o'er the stinlft earth Wines ont each tuneful bell. In tol;on of Iho Sayionr's birth. It* hoiv talc to tell. And add thntleavon of alloy, Tho thmurht of Him who died. To blend with rovcrenco the joy Wo feel at Christmastid*.
