Concert at Waiorongomai.
The annual school treat in connection with Wwiorongomai Public School came off on Thursday last, in Mr Hanks' paddoclc. There was a largo attendance of both children, their parents, and friends on the occasion ; the sports usual on such occasions were held, and a plentiful and varied supply of refreshments were provided (Mr A. A. Wallace as caterer giving satisfaction), the weather was fine, anil t.'ie whole affair passed off most pleasantly. In the evening a concert an \ dance was held in Waiorongomd Pubic Hall, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion. There was a good attendance, considering how many are absent from the district just now. Rev F. G. Evans presided, and the following programme was gone through : Overture, piano, Mrs Menzies ; reaiini?, Rev F. G. Evans ; song, I Built a Bridge of Fancies, Miss Y. Pavitt ; song (comic), Quite au Fait, Master H. Tonge ; vocal duet, Whispering Hope, Misses Cocks ; sonar, Beautiful Dreamer, Miss Hit st ; sohjt. The Hunting D.ty, Mr Hur.t. Interval : Part 2. Oveiture, piano, Mrs Menzies ; duofc, Very Improper Indeed, Mr and Miss Cocks ; song, C iller Herri u', Mi.-s Y. Paritt; trio, Three Old IUUs of L»a, Misses lion] I, Biskeit, and Y. At thecnnclu-ion of the con cert the Chairman thanked all those who hail so kindly assisted both at the picnic and conceit. The II ill was then quickly cleared for daneinsr, which was kept up with spiiifc for several hours ; the music Jsein<; provided by Messrs J. Clarke (violin), and C. Everitt (piano).
