NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITION IN LONDON. MR JOUBERT'S SCHEME. Dvn edin , December 11.

Tut idea of the proposed New Zealand Exhibition, to be held in London about August next, originated with Mr Joubert. The Government are~to be asked for a vote sufficient to enable the goods in the present Exhibition to be packed and forwarded to Europe, and to defray the cost of a small but efficient staff to accompany goods, and see to their proper display, lb is thought that a site at South Kensington or in tho Colonial Institute would be granted freo of charge, and the patronage ot the Prince of Wale", Sir Cunliile Owen, Lord Roseberry, and otheicould doubtless be enlisted. Lectures and limelight views depicting our magnificent lake and other scenery would periodically be given at night, and map 3 and concise pamphlets, distributed, containing latest statistics relating to our farming and mining industries. A feature of the proposed Exhibition will be the land and immigration bureau which properly worked, must tend to induce emigration and promote settlement in the colony. All the exhibitors have been sounded on the proposed scheme, and so warmly do they take to the idea that, in addition to tho valuable goods now displayed, a laige number of other exhibits would be secured free. Mr Joubert says that an advance of twelve thousand pounds from the Government would cover al{ the expenses, and he is as sanguine that this will be merely an advance, as the charge for admission, 6ale ot privileges etc., will rocoup the outlay. Capt. Rusbel, is understood to be favourably disposed towards the scheme, and should the approval of the Government and Parliament be given to it, Mr Joubert will probably leave for London to arrange the preliminaries about May next. lam aware that many of our leading manufacturers and merchants are so sanguine of the financial success of this bold ventuie that they would immediately subscribe the necessary capifcil, but of course they naturally feel that to make a New Zealand exhibition, held in London, a success it must be carried out by tho Government and in conjunction with the Agent-General.
