AUCKLAND RACING CLUB SUMMER MEETING.
Tiij: aocoptance-j and greneral entries for the Auckland Racing Club Summer Meeting must bo coiiMticred satisfactory. There is a great weeding out in the Cup, but thcro is the material for a splendid contost in tho Steoplecha'o, and on paper it looks an open race. The Clr. i&tchurch owners Messrs O'Biien and Butler are unrepresented in the entries, simply because they ha\e nothing in their stables to joiuney up with, and it would] ha\c been foolhardy for Mr .Stead to have brought up Scots Grey. Tho meeting, nevertheless 5 , will be a representative one, and the only lacing piovince of note unrepresented is Dunedin. There should be some interesting juvenile racing. Mr Jf. Redwood, the father ot the Xcw Zealand turf, has nominated a couple of his youngsters, and Mr J. D. Ormond is rejnc&enbed by Lullaby, the Apremonb— Hammock till v. The ciack colt Pygmalion also figures in the list, .=o that the localowned two year-olds will require to be at their best to distinguish themselves. With the great number of defections from tho Cup, the chances of the two top weights, Cuirassier and Raglan, are greatly improved, and for the present 1 shall have both on my side. Hilda's chance of winning looks second to none, for we have her last yeai's running in the Cup to guide us, but although doing well, I shall wait before recommending her. Jet d'Eau is a horse whom I have a liking for, and if a lead is given by his connections he will prove a hard member to beat. I don't think there is much to choose between Lady Norah, Leopold, and Leorina, but there is plenty of time later on for mo to make a definite selection. As I stated above, the Steeplechase is open, and I opine that the race will fall to the best of the Napier and Wanganui division, of which Volcano may turn out the be^t. Tirailleur is a colt that is not seen at every lace meeting, and if as well as I caw him at- Chrisoehurch la^b week he should win the Derb}'. He is not a hand&omo horse to look at, but ho possesses the gift of galloping. Pygmalion is a h'retclass two-year-old, and if the sea vojage doos nob interfere with him, I fancy he will tike the rich prize in the Foal Stakes to Christchuich. He is a big poweiful colt, and is quick at getting on his legd. The following arc the acceptances and entries for the following :—: —
