IRISH DELEGATES. Temuka, December 7.
Sjb Thomas Esmonde addiessed one of the largest and most enthusiastic meetings ever held in Temuka last night. Mr Cray, Chairman of the Town Board, occupied the chair. A resolution affirmative of Home Rule was carried on the motion of the Rev. Geo. Barclay (Presbyterian minister), seconded by the Rev. T. A. Hamilton (Episcopalian), both of whom made magnificent apeeches. The sum collected amounted to £230.
Mr Balfour, Chief Secretary for Ireland, was banqueted at Glasgow on Wednesdayevening. There were 2,700 persons present on the occasion. The Earl of Fife presided. The guest of the evening, responding to the toast) of his health, said that Home Rule was the half-way house to separation. He characterised the agitation in favour of Scotch autonomy as a crazy crotchet. In the course of his recent speech at Manchester, Mr Gladstone congratulated the city upon returning Home Rulers for Parliament. A long-soughb excuse had been afforded to the wealthy to desert Liberalism. The Earl of Aberdeen presided at Mr Gladstone's meeting, at which there was an immense audience. Mrs Gladstone delivered an address to the women of the city
