ARRIVAL OF THE MARIPOSA. The Oceanic Steamship Company's mail steamer Mariposa, Captain H. M. Hayward, which was due here from San Francisco last evening, was reported at 11 a.m. to-day as being in sight inside the Little Barrier. She reached the port about 1.15 p.m. and berthed at tho Queen-street wharf. She brings the English and American mails and some twenty cabin passengers and 13 steerage for Auckland, besides 100 of botli classes for Sydney. She has, in addition, a large quantity of general cargo for Auckland and Sydney. The ship's purser, Mr T. Smith, to whom we are indebted for a delivery of our lato 'Frisco and Honolulu tiles, states that the Mariposa left the Company's wharf at San Francisco at 4.05 p.m. on Saturday, November 16th, and anchored in the stream until tho arrival of the mails at midnight. She then proceeded to sea and discharged her pilot at 2.15 a.m. on November 17th. From tho 18th to 20th had strong winds from S. to S. W. with very heavy head sea. The steamer reached Honolulu on November 23rd at 11.45 p.m., and sailed the following day at 4.46 p.m. for the South. She touched at Tutuila on Sunday, December Ist at 2.40 p.m., and after a detention of 42 minutes proceeded on her way to Auckland. From Honolulu to port she had light winds and smooth sea. On Wednesday, December 4th, at 8.40 a.m. she pas&ed the R.M.S. Alameda, bound North. She received the pilot at Auckland at 12,55 p.m. Time from San Francisco was 19 days, lOhrs. 40tnin., a smart passage, notwithstanding her detention foi the mails. The Mariposa leaves for Sydney at ten o'clock on Saturday night.
