A WOMAN'S DETERMINED SUI CIDE AT MAGARA.
Ghastly Si'KCtaclk. A despatch from Niagara Fall?, dated th° sth inst., reports that an unknown woman jumped into the river ami pasted over the FalLOhortly beforo noon on that day. Tho woman, wljo wae dressed in dark clothes, \v:i3 of light complexion, with auburn hair, and about twenty-live years of ago, was j=een walking carelessly towards the Niagara River, a fehorb distance above Prospect l'oiut. Soon after reaching the liver she was obseived to toss her hat and parasol into the water, and a moment later she glanced hurriedly aiound and deliberately leapt into the Niagara Rapids. The nrghty water caught her up like a straw and bore her rapidly towards the American Falls, head first, her arms ewinging in the air. As she approached the brink of the Falls her face turned for a moment towards Prospect Point, not 20ft. away. She was evidently up to this in full possession of her mind and uninjured. Just as she was passing over the Falls one arm was raised apparently to mako a motion — cj'es wide open. One moment of awful suspense, and the body was borne from view by the rushing water. The captain of the Maid of the Mist shortly afterwards saw the body floating on the still water between the American. Fall ami Canada Freepark, but befoio tho boat could reach it the body had disappeared from sight.
