Tin, present C/ar, a few years, after obtaining the ri^ht ot succession to the throne by the dea'h of his elder brother (says the London « Daily News,' in a letter wiitten to the well-known Panslavisf;, Mr Arksakotl), made soma intcrestin£ avowals. The letter rcfened to ia dated the 22nd of May 1,860, and runs as follows :'— ' " ' .' 'I inu.st repeatedly tell you that I am not at all satisfied with my portion. "It is 'too brilliant for my character, wliieh is only contented with peace and family life. Court life doss not suit me, and I suffer daily at beinpr compelled to associate with men at court. But I cannot accustom ■ myself to jud^e their miserable * actions coolly, and yet all thi* -is, done solely with- the object ot,,,,receiving outward,,., distinctions, ', 4^hJclwaccording to jny opinion, a>e ugt, ysjrth a copeck.
