An extraordinary affair has occurred at Maryporb. A wife of a laboiuer in the town gave birth to a eon. When the child was born ib was found that ibs head was covered with a V9il or caul. The veil was placed on one sido. and no notice was taken of ib until some hours after the child's birth. When examined, however, it was found that the words ' British and Foreign Bible Society ' wero deeply impressed upon the veil. When this discovery was made the greatest excitement prevailed in tho neighbourhood, some of the women declaring that nothing shorfc of a miracle had been enacted. The doctor, who inquired into the matter, however, soon explained the allair. The veil, whilst in a pliable condition, had been placed upon a Bible, on the cover of which the words •Biibishand Foreign Bible Society' were deeply indented. The wot ds were m this way transferred to the veil ; but some of the inhabitants still asciibe the aflair to some supernatural influence, and declaie that tho child is a 'missionary born.' — 'Leeds Mercury.'
