OATS AND MAIZE. THE MARKET IN SYDNEY . Invercargill, Nov. 20.

A gijntTiEman experienced in the grain trade, and who recently made a tour of the neighbouring colonies, informs the " Southland News " that there is every reason to believe that during December, January and February a good demand for New Zealand oats will exist in Sydney. There are no stocks held there at present, and po theie has been tin unprecedented run on maize. This crop is almost done, and a very inferior quality is now coming forward. The hob weather will be on during the present month, and the consumption will then greatly increase for lack of green feed. Sydney alone consumes borne 1,000 sacks a week. Some better system than now exists should be arranged tor shipping. One week the market is glutted, everyone rushing to get theirs in, and the following week tho market is bare. Most unreliable leports are &ent across weekly from New Zealand, and a lob of harm rosulbs. The new mai/o crop will not bo in before March, and there should be a good market for all oats in New Zealand, it nob rushed in together. Trices in December should improve and hold throughout the above j months,

Bertie : 'Sister i\meli(i, I heard y. oungj Mr Bagley tell Mr Bailey yesterday bhab jon \\-ev<? ft daisy girl, mitl had awfully tender eyes, ' Amelia ; '3 wonder v\ hy Mr Barley didn't call me an avejed daUv and be dozie with it.'
