Thafc wonderful sprinter E. H. Polling has a grain been breaking records. He^held the 200yda record with 20sec up to September 28th last, when at the London Athletic Club's sports he did 19 4-sth sec in his heat, and 19f?ec in the final, both records The latter, however, was with the wind.
From the Sydney »« Referee : "— " ?h,e team to represent this colony in the forthcoming amateur championship meeting of New Zealand will be as follows :— looyds. 200.\ds, and 440 yds. W. T. McPherson (Eastern Suburbs A.C.), A. E. Sefton (Darlinghurst Harriers), and G. F. Williamson (Eastern Suburbs A.C.); 380 yds, Li*wfor& Spencer (Sydney Harriers) ; ope and three miles runnipgr, E. W. Brierley and Lawford Spencer (Sj dney Harriers). Ernest Hutton (University A.C.) may go for the hurdles and jumps. I learn that Mr George F. Williumsop, the deservedly popular Eastern Suburbanite, and Mr Lawford Spencer, \,hp brilliant young Sydney Harrier, decided tp accept the invitation of the Auckland Club, and I am more than pleased to hear the news. If not treated too harshly in the various handicaps both should do credit to this colony and to themselves." No entries have yet been received from these gentlemen. How will that fact affect their posi tion ?
