THE SANDWICH ISLANDS. VIEWS OF THE "TIMES" ON ANNEXATION.

Tin; London " Times " of October 12th says that, in view of the amount of English capital imested in the Sandwich Islands, England could nob see them pase into the hands of any foreign power with indifference, bub that their acquisition by the United States would be regarded with more equanimity than their spoilation by any European power, to which the British Government would never submit. A New York despatch adds : " The whole tone of the article points to a desire that the United States Government may see its way clear to gobble up the islands, and the writer's intention is evidently to encourage Uncle Sam to adopt such a course." If the present Tory Government, of which the " Times " is bo some extent the mouthpiece, has any axe to grind by inducing the United States to deport from its traditional policy of minding its own business, few people on this side of the water expect to see it succeed. Well informed men here understand that the scheme for the acquisition of territory thousands of miles distant from its shores is nob likely to find favour in America.
