JUBILEE CELEBRATION. AUCKLAND REGATTA COMMITTEE. Auckland, November 6.

A special meeting of the Committee of the Auckland Regatta Club was held at the Club-room of the Waitemata Hotel last evening- to receive a report from the delegates appointed to represent the Club on the Jubilee General Committee. There was a large attendance, about twenty members being present, and Mr A. H. Nathan occupied the chair. Mr C. Dacre, one of the delegates, complained that the General Committee had seen fit to call the forthcoming festival the ''Auckland Jubilee Celebration," and that the programme as submitted by the Regatta Committee had been cut down or was likely to be cut down. An animated discussion followed, and several members spoke very forcibly on the desira bility of having the Auckland Annual Regatta maintained as the most prominent feature in the programme of events. Jn reply to questions Mr Dacre admitted that the programme as submitted by the Regatta Committee had been adopted by the General Committee, and that e<f far as he knew there had been no cutting down, although a reduction of the prize money , had been suggested. Other members pointed out that the programme as adopted by the General Committee contains prizes representing over £600, and that as no reduction had actually been made, the complaints made were premature. It was eventually resolved and agreed to unanimously on the motion of Mr A. S. Reid, seconded by Mr J. B. Graham, " That the delegates appointed by the Regatta Committee be instructed to protest against the alteration of the name from Auckland Jubilee Regatta and Sports to Jubilee Festival, and also against any alteration in the arrangement of events and amounts of prizes as already published." " That this Regatta Committee also urges upon the Managing Committeo the desirability of having the regatta programme published without delay."
