MINING NEWS. Thames, November 6.

New Manukau.— As the result of the past month'a operations the manager has banked 230z 12dwt of melted gold from 22 tons of quartz. Saxon. — The reef in the drive at No. 5 level is looking pretty well, and yesterday 4 or 51b of picked stone were obtained when breaking down. The etopes are producing quartz of the usual grade, and as the result of crushing operations tit the Company's battery for the past week there are 4230z of amalgam on hand. Lone Hand. — The contractors in the General Chute low level have extended it a further distance of about 20 feet during the past week, and are still going through a splendid description of white sandstone country, which is all that could be desired for the existence of gold-bearing leaders. Colours of gold are seen in the several stopea whenever a breaking down takes place. 'Royal, Oak.— For the past week there is little or no change to report from this mine. At present the reef is rather broken, but will make again at the junction of the cross load. The run does not seem to make going up although the ground continues to show j favourable indications along the curve of the cro«« lead. The tributers havo cut No. 2 reof, also the cioss reef from No. 2 in the crosscut from No. 2 level. Both reefs are small, but the cross reef is showing loose prospects going down through the hard ground. — >Pktek Reij>. Trknton.— The count! y in the drive atthe bottom 'owl still continues hard, but it is not expected to last much longer, eeoing limb the drive is now within 150 feet of the Saxon foot wall lode. The rock-boier has been working very well this week. Camjjrta. — The hanging- wall portion of the main reef looks well, there being at present a band of good mineral fully live inches in thickness, and striking into the reef towards the footwall. Breaking down in the leading stope commences to-day. In the No. 7 leader drive, the two leaders are still divided. They will average about four inches each, and show gold when broken down. The mine manager is at present carrying along three leaders in the second stope. The 6-inch leader in the second stope over the western drive shows gold when broken down. Lone Hand.— The General Chute drive at the low level is going through a splendid class of sandstone country for gold-bearing reefs. No. 2 leador is two inches in thickness, and there is some nice mineral showing through the quartz. Colours of gold weieseen through the quartz when breaking down No. 2 leader in the second ttope, and also when breaking down No. 3 leader. The reef in the second stope east, Manchester section, looks well, and is about 18 inches in thickness. In the ninth and tenth stopes gold has been seen. Driving west on the Moa reef fiom the magazine was staited on Monday.
