Messrs Arthur and Budpmo's Weekly Report. — During the eaily part of the week business generally was dull. Tho supply of pi oduco was small, and but little fruit to hand. Only four suits by auction ting week. On Monday, at the Steam Marble Works. Stanleystreet, Mechanics' Bay, tho machineiy, building, stock of marble ; but tew present, only the marble and buiulings were sold. Wednesday, at the Mart, household furniture and effects ; a fair number present,* but bidding was dull : a fair amount ot business wns done. Tuesday and Friday, at tho Mart, poultry, pig-, pioduce, fruit, groceries, etc. The supplies for Tuesday's sale were- small, t ut Friday's was well supplied with all kinds of produce. Potatoes, both old and new, ai em good demand. Onions (dry) are wanted. Vegetables moved oft treely at good prices. Chocs > : A large supply of old season's. Buyers will not opera o freely. They are seeking a reduction in price, and are wanting for the new make. The general public prefer new mild cheese to a well-seasoned one. Makers should bear this fact in mind, and get their old stock olf early. Bacon and hams, well cured and nicely got up, not too heavy, are in demand. Laid, owing to the low price of butter, is diflicult to move oIF at any price. Butter is plentiful ; only Hrst-clas3 froth commands attention: a large quantity of salt on hand ; a very limited sale lor really good ; other lots cannot be pushed ofl". llonoy has been in good supply, the demand has greatly decreased : low prices had to bo taken for section and bulk. A iniotake has been mado bv some by packing in kerosene tins ; they will nbt stand the strain and knocking about, therefore come to hand in a leaky condition. TCgss in demand far in excess of supply. Grain has been quiet. But little demand for bonedust; we have a cheap lot on hand. Fruit . Apples appear to be done ; lemons have bi ought a fair price, and were in good demand. The only safe rule is to pluck and send to market that which is in a fit state each week, carefully packed in suitable cases (tn the case of sott kinds shallow ones, and in no ease laive). Apples and pears should not oxceed 451b to oOlb each ; gooseberries, cherries, plums, etc., irom 101b to 251b each. Bags or kits should never be used. There have boon many inquiries after properties, but no sale 3 have been effected. Poultry : A fair supply ot fowls ; not a large number of duel i; no geese; but lew turkeys. Prices of all kinds were good, and an unsatisfied demand. The supply ot pigs much less than it has been for some weeks. Good prices wo c obtained. Mii Alexander Aitken's Market Report (for the week ending November 2nd).— Auction sales for the past week have been largely attended, with spirited competition for most lines. On Tuesday and Friday the usual produce and poultry sales wore well supplied with all kinds. On Wednesday a sale of Island fruit was held, when an unusually large shipment of fruit was quitted at good prices. In the poultry department the supply oi all kinds was larger than usual, «ud prices all round were higher than last week, roosters and ducks being greatly in demand ; for these prices weiepaiticularly high. Pigs in good supply, aiid prices satisfactory. Potatoes, old, very plentiful, and demand very limited, except for Waikatos, which have been short of requirements. New potatoes : Supplies are slightly in excess ot demand; kidnoys have sold well, but other sorts are low. Onions : None in the market. Vegetables of all kinds are in very short supply, and prices high. Wheat: Several lines of milling, amounting to 630 sacks, havo been placed privately at from 3s Id to 3s 2d per bushel ; fowl wheat is in good request at from 3s to 3s 2d. Maize in lair demand at 3s Id; barley Blow of sale at 2s 9d ; chafK bran and sharps quiet at late quotations ; hams and bacon," choice lot 3, in good request, at satisfactory prices; other kinds are diflicult to quit: Cheese, newly-made, plentiful, most of which has been cleared, but values aro lower. Fresh butter ia still plentiful at a better average price ; corned butler still unsaleable, and an attempt has been made to ship balance of consignments to England. Eggs : Larger quan tity received, the average price has not been so high. A few cases of local apples of choice quality came to hand f ro<n Wairoa, and sold at High prices. Lemons, but few received. Gooseberries coming in more freely, prices lower. Messrs O. B. Paget akd Co. 'a Weekly Refort.—Sales this week have been fairly good, and all kinds of produce have been well represented in the supplies. Market values for all classes remain much the same as at last report. Potatoes, both old and new, have been in large supply; the latter kind are not moving off in any quantity. Onions are in limited supply, and command high rates. Pumpkins and ctirrols are realising good prices, and supply is shorL of requirement. Cabbage 3. cauliflowers and other pardon vegetables are selling well. Grain values all round aro unchanged. Fresh butter is coming to hand in large quantities, and prices are low ; canned butter remains a drug in the market. Hams and bacon of firstolass quality wanted, but market is bare of this description. New cheese is in short supply and commands high rates. Eggs soiling at low rates. Honoy is quiet of sale. Poultry was in short supply and prices ruled high. Jacicson, Creamer, and Co. report the following salt's during the past woek :— On Monday the lattendance of buyers was very numerous. At the sale of Mr Elmesa, of St. Stephen's Avenue, Parnell, piices realised good figuros, the furniture being of a superior quality. On Tuesday, at Firth's Old Mill, Q\icen-street, a very large number of buyers attended and good prices resulted. Messrs Maaefleld and Co., Hawkeswood, Hughes, Burns, and Ruthei'ford were the principal buyers. On Thursday, a superior lot of pictures and books were all sold, and very fair prices given. On Friday, besides the ordinary furniture sale, we sold a n parcel of land at Lake Takapuna, Mr A. H. Smith beir.g the purchaser at £130. There was a large attendance at the land auction heid yesterday by Messrs Samuel Vaile and Sons. A four-roomed cottago in Richmond Road, with allotment 33 x 90, brought the satisfactory price of. £200, and the land at the Bay of Islands was sold at 9a per acre. The other lots were passed in. Messrs At fred UuoKTiAND & Sons' Webtcxy RiaroßT.— At the Haymnrket during the past wook, fodder has ranged from 2s 3d to 3a 6d per cwt ; oaten chaff, £4 per ton : oats, wholesale, 2s 3d to 2s 5d tier bushel. On Friday horso stock were in full numbir, and tteacly demand. Good animals in condition ranged in price from £8 to £18 each; medium quality from .63 xipwards ; a sprint; cart brought £10 ; light waggon , £17. On Tuesday hides and skins wore in larger number than for many weeks. Ox hides kept their values, and cow Hides were better worth. Sheep skins were a'so better worth. Prices were For ox hides, from 3d to Id ; cow hides, 2d to 2)d ; calf skins, 4d and 4}dporlb; bones, ts 9d; tallow, 17s and 17s 6d per cwt ; pelts. 7Jd to 9d ; lamb skins, Is to Is 6d ; butchers' sheep skins generally, 4s to 6s, but one parcel brought 8s scl each ; wool in ba<e, b\d to Bkl per lb. At the cattle fair hold at Remuo'ra on Saturday last, a less number were penned than was advised. There was a numerous attendance o£ buyers, and the prices obtained wore the highest for the season. At the country cattle sales held respectively at Pukekoho on Monday and Papakurn on Wednesday, cattle worn yarded in full numbers. Buyers were also present, and satisfactory prices were obtained. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were dull of salo. Store cattle in largo numbers were in request at full values. Fat cattle, in average numbeis, fully kept last week's vnlues, from 16s to 18s per 1001b. Some averages were : Fifty steers, £6 63; 2i steers, £7 ; 20 steers, £5 17s; 8 steers, £6 3s; 8 steers, £6 ss ; 8 stcrs, i.6 73 ; 16s steers. £6 Is. Calves numerous, generally of small size, and brought from 4s to 15s each. Sheep, in average supply, were better worth than last week Is each ; store wethers brought from 12s 9d to 14s; longwoolled wethers in their wool, 18s to 20s; woolled cross-bred wethers. 13s to 15s. Lambs wore numorous, and lower than last week about la each, they brought from 6a to 133, but the prreator number from 8s to 11s ; pigs plentiful, k«pt their values. There is a good inquiry for quiet stores.
