The Committee appointed to receive Mr John Dillon and Sir Thomas Esmonde, the lii-h delegates, have received the following letter from Mr Dillon :— " Goulburn, October 14th : Gentlemen, — I have just received your letter of 30th September, and am very glad to hear so good an account of your preparations. Some difficulty has arisen in leference to the dates of my meetin go in the Middle Island. I havewiitten to the Dunedin committee f-uggesting thatthey should take this business in hand, and so communicate with the committees in that district, and arrange dates so as to suit, as far as pos'ib'e, the convenience of all. I shall bo most happy to vi.-ifc Palmerston North, if ib can be made to {it in with other airangemcnts. I am glad. to say that I now think Mr Deasy will be able to accompany me. So has worked very hard, and will have his work in the colony finished by the 30th.— Yours sincerely, Jonx Dru.oN." Mr Dillon evidently has thought it necessary to bq accompanied by both his colleagues, owing to the many invitations sent him to -visit the smaller placas throughout New Zealand, and which would be impossible to vi«ii without the assistance of Sir Thos. Jssmon.de qnd Mr Deasy. The delegates leave Sjdney to-day by the mail steamer, and, it is thought, will arri,\ c here on Sunday afternoon. Preparations.are being made by (he Committee to give a reception suitable to the occasion; and for that object a special meeting is called for to morrow evening at the Catholic Institute, Wellingto.n-street.
