THE OMAHA MURDER CASE. VERDICT OF MANSLAUGHTER. TEN YEARS' PENAL SERVITUDE.
In tlio Omahn murder case the Crown Prosecutor said no doubt Tarangas' party were wrong in going on his land and behaving as tlu i y did, but that was no provoeatiou for the murderous attack. Natives could not be allowed to take the law in their own hands. The jury returned at 2,30 p.m. with a vejdict of manslaughter, and recommended the prisoner to mercy. The Chief Justice pas3ed a sentence of ten year's penal servitude.
