Tub onlmary monthly meting of .the Waitna Road Board took- [-lace in the Nottingham Castle Hotel," Morrinsville. ]-isfc Saturday . Prosent : Messrs W. P, Cliepmell (in the chair), E. W. Hamner, J. Hoi roll, and J. Tnrnbull. The Cliainnan gave a verbal report of tlip st.ato of the ro;i<ls inspected by himpelf, Messrs Hanmer, Tuinbull, and the Engineer, on the sth inst The Board found, after mature" deliberation, that with! the funds available if, would be impossible to undertake all the work applied For. It was decided to go on with works on the Stanley and Cemetery roads, and on Taylors road, for which tenders will he called. It was decided also to get the ti-tree cut on road near MikkeJsen's place, and on a part of the Waiorongomai road. It bavins: been found that the roads in several places are being encroached on with fences, it was decided to take steps to have all fences removed off tlie roads 1 . A Memo was received from the Pro-, perty-Tax Commissioner, requesting a number of alterations to be made in;the Valuation Roll. A letter was received fro in the Audit Office, requesting payment of. £,1 10s, beini? * tho cost of auditing the BoardV accounts for the year ended 31st March /> 1889. The Board decided to allocate the Native lands rntes for the current year, amounting to £36 13s Id, towards opening up the road to the Piako Native Settlement. The Natives are anxious to have the road roaile, and have pVd; raised subscriptions amounting: to L2O, and other subscriptions to LI 7 afealJo''pVbrrtjsed.^ #iaV<V 'County Council. Jias. also allocated the/ Native land rates to the same purpose, so" that it is considered these sums will go a long way 'towards ripening np ( 'tho'ioad fo the boundary of .the, Waitoaj Road District,, and it.is confidently belioyed'tl^e Ohittcniuti County Council will do that portion of the road within, the Ohineinuri County.
