MINING NEWS. Thames, October 26.
Saxon.— Twenty pounds of picked stone were obtained to-day when breaking down No. 1 main reef in the drive hillward at No. 5 level. May Queen. — All the necessary preliminaries having been completed, a start has been made to clean ami repair a diive leading to the City of London shaft. Royal Oak G. M. Company.— During the past week there has been but little of importance to report from the mine. At present there is a large solid reef in hand well defined showing no gold only where the cross lead junctions, which only shows blotches in the stone going up. Another stope has be«n started which is showing more favourable mineral indications up to the cross lead. There hns been nothing new to report from the tribute portion of the mine.— Peter Reid.
