The Puhipuhi silver find (writes our Whangarei correspondent) is going to turn out something altogether better than I expected. Mr Gordon was both pleased and surprised with what ho saw. The prospectors have been keeping the thin or as quiet as possible, as their title is not yet confirmed, owing to the clashing of Hie controlling interests. The Waste Lands Com* missioned is the authoiity, and as Waste Lands Commissioner ho granted them a prospectors' licenso ; then, as Chiof of the Forest Roserves, lie oiderod all present (gumdiggers ostensibly) out of the forest at the end of this month. He again has other powers under the Mining Act which take precedence of the former, but he has not yet acted on them. As soon as the prospectors get their lease, the land will be rushed from here by those in the know,
