London, October 21. Sir Sail Samuel, the Agent-Geneial of New South Wales, is negotiating with English financiers with a view to the development of the iron and coal resources of that colony. The Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs was attacked at Tokio and slightly wounded. The assailant escaped, but subsequently committed suicide to escape the consequences of nis act. The trial of the persons who are chaigtd with the minder of Inspector Martin is now pioceeding. Twelve prisoners have been indicted on the capital charge, ,vhile Father MeFadden and nine others are accused of complicity in the crime. The New Zealand 3^ pet cent, conversion loan is now quoted at a premium of 2JJ per cent. Three thousand mineis, emplo)ed in the Maiquis of Londondetry's Durham collieries, have struck for shoiter hour?. Fifteen thousand more have threatened to strike unless belter Urms are conceded by the owners. A suppos.d case of leprosy which has been reported at Brtntwocd, in Essex, is occas : oning considerable discussion. S.vere gales have been experienced in the west of England. Two steamcts, named the Westpoole and Aurora, have been wrecked at Ufrarombe, in the Bristol Channel.
Paui*, October 21. Dr. Brown-Sequard has informed the Academy of Medicine that he has discovered the microbe of sma'l-pox. The newly elected Chamber of Deputies has been called together for the 1 2th November.
