A Loving Wife.
After the heat of the contest in the streets of Paris (in 1830) had subsided, a woman was seen running about, and eagerly examining every dead body in her way — she was looking for her husband. A gentleman, who had watched her progress for some time, endeavoured to console her with the hope of his being yet alive. ' No,' said the inconsolable, 'he must be killed : I have not set eyes upon him since the morning. 1 hope I shall Hnd his body — for he has got the key of the street door in his pocket.'
