THE IRISH DELEGATES. PROGRAMME FOR NEW ZEALAND. LETTER FROM MR DILLON.

Auckland, September 26. At a meeting of the executive branch of the Reception Committee appointed to welcome the Irish delegates to New Zealand, held last evening, a letter was read from Mr John Dillon definitely iixing the date of the delegates' arrival in Auckland. These gentlemen have been expected for some time, but it seems they have been so successful in the other colonies that it was thought better to ox*end the time there and hold the Now Zealand trip over to a more convenient season. We are sure that no wellwisher to the Irish cause in this colony will regret that the visit of Mr Dillon and his friends has been delayed for such satisfactory reasons. The following is the text of Mr Dillons letter :—: — " Sydney, 7th September, 1889. iC Messrs M. J. Sheahan and Wm. Jennings. " Gentlemen,— l have now decided to leave Sydney for Auckland by the mail steamer which sails on Wednesday, 30th October, and which will arrive in Auckland on Sunday or Monday, the 3rd or 4th of November. You might, therefore, I think, arrange the meeting in Auckland for Wednesday, Nov. 6th. 1 enclose a list of dates on which I think the subsequent meetings might take place. With reference to the dates after Dunedin, I am writing to the people in Dunedin asking them to commum'cate with me and suggest the best arrangements for visiting the West Coast. " I am very sorry that so much delay has occurred in connection with my visit to New Zealand, but it was quite unavoidable. It arose from the unexpected success of our mission here. " Sir Thomas Esmonds will accompany me, but it has been found necessary that Mr Deasy should remain to finish the work in this colony. It will keep him hard at work bill the end of November. — Yours sincerely, John Dillon." The following are the dates spoken of by Mr Dillon a3 about the best for his meetings: — Leave Sydney by American mail, Wednesday, 30th October ; speak at Auckland, Wednesday, 6th November ; at Napier, Monday, 11th November ; Wanganui, Wednesday, 13th November ; Wellington, Friday, 15th November ; Christchurch, Wednesday, 20th November; Timaru, Thursday, 21st November ; Oamaru, Saturday, 23rd November ; Dunedin, Tuesday. 26th November. Dates alter meeting at Dunediu to be arranged later.
