Every # body is anxiously waiting the ratitica fcion or otherwise of the Samoan treaty Some ot the Americans here are strongly of opinion that the treaty will not be ratified by the American .Senate, especially the part relating to an indemnity being paid to the Germans by Samoans. It ib greatly to be feared that unless the commissioners irom the three Powers \rho are to govern Samoa arrive soon, some of the busybodies here will again cause trouble amongst the Samoans by advising them foolishly. King Malietoa was present at the annual May meeting and addressed the people who were assembled there. The Sachorm, from New York, about which some anxiety was felt owing to the length of time she was out, arrived at Pago Pago on the 23rd ult. She is now busily discharging her coal at the United States co.ilingsbabion ab that place. The U.S. Adams is ab present at Pago Pago, but is expected to return here on tbo an ival of mail steamer Irom 'Frisco. The U.S. Monengaheia is in Apia, busily engaged in taking on board the guns t and other effects saved from the Trenton and Vandalia. This i 3 no light task here, where, there is no wharf nor any of the necessary appliances for handling guns of the weight these are. However, satisfactory progress is being made, and the ship is to leave for home on or about the 15th instant. The German gunboat Wulf left hore on the 27th ult. for Jaluit, from whence she is going to her old station at Japan The Scphie still remains here and doe not expect to be relieved by the Aloxan drine before December. Admiral Kimberley hoisted his fhg on the Monangahe a on the 27th. It was saluted in the usual manner by the Opal and Sophio. The Opal left to-day for Fiji, thence to* Sydney.
