SUICIDE AT FIJI.

"On Thursday morning last," says the "Fiji Times," " Ueorgo Bertraiti, an old identity, who has recently been employed as storeman for tho C.S.R. Company at Nausori, committed suicide. It will be remembered that in 18S7 he endeavoured to do the same thing with the assistance of muriatic acid, but suffered so keenly as to prevent him from ever again trying poison as an antidote to the troubles of this life. Shortly after 8 o'clock in the morning a sharp report was heard from the neighbourhood of the store or fitting shop at Nausori Mill, and tho deceased was found with his head split into two parts by the explosion of a dynamite cap. The detonator had evidently been placed in his mouth, butwhether it was exploded by the suicide by some method of concussion, or by a short length of fuse, had not been clearly shown when tho news left Rewa."
