SELECTORS' LAND REVALUATION BILL. Wellington, September 6.
.There was considerable discussion last night over the Selectors' Land Revaluation ( Bill which was considered in committee reported and passed its tinal stages. Sir George Grey unsuccessfully moved his two new ; clauses which provided that three years' ' occupation should be considered, a sufficient compliance > with the occupation conditions and entitle the holders to subdivide or sublet. Both clauses were lost by large majorities. Mr Kobbs proposed a new clause dealing with village settlements that provoked much discussion. He was supported by most of the Auckland members, but it was lost by a large majority. It gave village * settlers power to acquire a freehold on the same terms as perpetual lease settlers. At the annual meeting of the Trentoe Gold Mining Co., it was reported that the physical difficulties encountered in th claim— hard rock and inflow, of water — had been very great, but had- now been overcome, and a better class of country now prevails. Compared with the very great undertaking of developing" the mine, the cost has thus far been small. The directors expressed their hope of speedily meeting the shareholders under more agreeable and successful circumstances. The prospects of the mine are good. The balance-sheet showed the bank -debit balance to be £210 4s 4d, the disbursements being £2,664 Is 3d for the year. The Chairman (Mr James Russell) moved the adoption, of the report and balance-sheet, and on the seconding oi Mr James Reid, this was done, and the mine manager's report apprqved. It was resolved, " That Mr Ja.mes Russell be reelected a director, also that Mr W. R. Fricke be appointed a director to till the vacancy caused hy the retirement of Mr J. Howard, who had oeased to be a shareholder." Mr T. A. Menziea was re-appoin-ted auditor for the ensuing year. The motion "That Article 90 be altered by omitting therefrom all the q words in' the said article after the' word ,' determine,"? was carried
