WAIORONGOMAI. [From our own Correspondent.] Waiorongomai, Thursday.
There is nothing* ot special interest to report at the Te Aroha S. and G.M. Co.'s plant. Treating the lead ore at the rnntting furnace is still going: on, and when sufficiently cool it is trucked to the smelting house, there to await the final treatment by the water jacket furnace. Mr and Mrs Carroll and family left here this morning, bound for the Gordon Special Settlement, there to take up their abode a<? bona fide settlers. They have set a good example, and no doubt during the coming summer others will follow. The skating rink seems to keep up its prestige here, as a very favouiite source of amusement. Last night the Hall was well patronised, every one appearing to thoroughly enjoy themselves, the coming ball, in connection with the above promises to be a great success. The football match, Quartzville v. Waiorongomai, to be played on Saturday, is causing a good deal of interest. The hill folkft are confident of winning, and of course vioe versa. The betting at present is about even, so that the match should be a good one.
