Warden's Coukt. — Applications wero dealo with yesterday by "Warden Northcroft as follows:— G. 1. Tanter, Centennial licensed holding, Tapn, adjourned 28th November; R. McDonald Scott, May Queen, WaioKaraka, adjourned 17th October ; John £>yrne, Specimen Hill Holding, adjourned sth September ; James Madden, Maddens Folly, adjourned sth September ; W. Brooks, Gladstone (Waihi), granted ; Davis and McWilhams, Hong Kong, adjourned sth September. An application was made for four months' protection for the Gold water claim at YV'hangamata. MiMiller, who appeared for the applicants, said that about £1,000 had been expended on the property , and an oflort was now being made by Mr Young, of Auckland, to obtain a plant, which ib was estimated Mould save 85 per cent, of the bullion in the ore. Evidence having been given by M. Kelly, the Warden granted the application. Upon the application of Mr Miller, on behalf oi the Waihi G.M. Co., four months' piotecbion was granted to the Thistle and Walker's special claims at Waihi. In the course of his remarks in support of the application, Mr Miller mentioned that there were upwards of 100 men drawing wages from the Waihi Company. The only defended case was in connection with a mining dispute at Waihi. Ib was that D. Campbell and others recently marked out a licensed holding at Waihi, which they named the Victory, and yesterday applied to the Warden thac the license should be granted. An objection was put in by Alex. Unthank, however, on the ground bhab bhe holding as pegged out by Campbell included his claim of five men's ground, which was also known as bhe Victory. Mr Kenrick appeared for bhe applicant, and Mr Miller for the objector. Seveial witnesses were examined, after which bhe Warden decided bo uphold the objection, and adjourned the granting of the licensed, holding, so as to enable the Victory claim to be cut out of the area marked out by Campbell. Costs amounting to £15 3s were allowed the objector. Saxon.— The reef at No. 5 level is still showing a little gold with a few pounds of picked stone. The amalgam from the berdans for the past three days is 440z., similar to the previous week's run.
