Waitoa.
[From Onr Own Correspondent.] The dogs are busy among the sheep nnd l:\tnhs aq:nin in this district ; Mr T. Rowe lins had several shepp and lambs worried to rleafh by dogs lately. It is very disheartening to men trying to live by their own indu c try to be occasioned so much annoyance and expense, by hungry enrs wandering aroundjbvitownedbysomebody. Could not the po.ice pajf a little regard ia this matter, aad haye these mongrels, commonly half-breed sporting do-jffl, destroyed, when prowling about without owners ;asit i« these kind: of dogs that generally do the mischief. Fav-^ raera are partly to blame for allowing all sort 9 and conditions of men to bring dogs and guns on to their land, for this leads to sheep worrying: ; besides other damasrp, I believe Mr Rowe has lost about fifty sheep in this manner, besides all the trouble and vexation connected with it. I did not send you any particulars about the gale here last week, as I thought you would have enough of Te Aroha blows j anyhow we had a blow. One of my friends in the township told me he had to hang on to the bed for fear of being blown -out. I did not find it so bad as that. It is far from a happy feeling to be inside a house when one is in doubt as to which is the right side up. I met one of Mr Gabolinscy's beer barrels on the road to Morrinsville, apparently disgusted with Te Aioha blows. Mr McNicol's office, at the Waitoa saleyards got upset, and, in the fall, smashed to pieces. I don't think the safe was inside. Spring seerrs to be rathpr early, judging by the peach trees, which are now in blossom ; a fortnight earlier thin last year, and othir early tiees are showing for leaf, Mr T. Taylor, I am glad to say, is able to move about on his crutches a bit, but I expect it to be a few weeks before he fully recovers from the effects of his late acid en t. Mr Evans preached at Waihou on Sunday to a good congelation.
