CHARGE OF INFANTICIDE. Melbourne, August 8.
Mrs Fleming, the keeper of a rather fashionable boarding-house, is charged with infanticide. The evidence has disclosed the fact that the child was born alive, but strangled.
Sydney, August 8. Mr Shoebridge, fruit-grower, of Tasmania, who has been in England to leain the latest and most improved methods of preserving and packing Australian fruit for the home market, has returned. He states that Australian fruit compares favourably with the finest exported from America and other places, but the great aim of successfully forwarding South Australian and Victorian fruit is to send first crops. Late
crops are too soft, and cannot stand long voyage.
