A mrtcting of the Wniorongomai Committee, to take the necessary steps for having WaiuroiK'omai excluded from t'-e propos-d Borough of IV Aroha, was held at the Wa'mrongomai Hotel on Wednes? day evening last, The matter was very Fully discussed, a copy of the petition and plan just sont away, with the signatiiie* attached thereto, woa laid on i he table, and IhU of the resident householders in fie «H«tn« f t prepared, and carefully eh eked over. It was .«tat "d that pu'< lie op:rion generally at Waiorongomai was strongly averse to the proposed Borough, »n 1 that a nnmber of those who ha I sinned the petition there (out, of a total of 47) had since seen their mistake, greatly regretted h wing done so, and were anxious to sign a counter petition. It was deoidpd, however, to confine the names on the new petition to fiose who hud ;.ot signed the petition for a Borough. It, was stated, after a careful comp»rison of the lists that ha<l been prepared, there would be a large majority of si.'nitnres attached to the counter petition praying tltat Wainrongnmni be not included. Also that Be\eral of tlios>» at Waiorongormv who had signed the petition for a Borough would have to be struck off. It was lesolved, on the motion of Mr A. Jaml -son, seconded by Mr I). McL. Wallace : That a petition be at once prepare! for signature, praying that the whole of that portion of the proposed Borough, south of Stoney Cr.eek, be excluded. Resolved, on the motion of Mr J. Samson, senr., seronded by Mr A, Wallace : That the following bo appointed a sub-Committee, to prepare a draft of the petition, to be submitted to a future meetim r , viz., Messrs P. Ferguson, D. McL Wallace, S. T. Smardon, and W. S. Collins ; and that it bean instruction to tl-e sub-Committee to have a plan on a larije scale prepared, showing the area and boundaries of the proposed borough, the relative position of ihe township of Te Ar«»ha and Waiorongojnai, etc., to be attached to the petition.
