PROPOSED COMPROMISE.
Dr. Newman (city) and Captain Russell (country), as moderate men on each side, have been appointed delegates to arrange a compromise that will be agreeable to both sides. On the Committee meeting this morning the Premier asked for an adjournment till 2.30 p.m., which was agreed to. The proposal for compromise is 28 per cent, quoba, added to a decrease of the swinging margin from 750 to 500. It is expected delegates will recommond these.
