Thl New South Wales Parliament has agreed to an extension of the San Francisco mail service contract for twelve months, at a reduced subsidy of with the proviso that if New Zealand heieaftcr joins the contract, or contributes postages or subsidy, any sum in excess of such excess to the extent of ,£3,500 shall go to the Union Steamship Company ; New South Wales to take two-thirds and the Company onethird of any American contribution. £All postages are to be retained by South Wales subject to the adjustment of the share with New Zealand, if the latter agiee to the extension. A further condition is that only European crews shall be employed on the mail steamer.
